Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Seminar: Focus on Women with Disability Day and Deaf Education.

In celebration of 19^th Women with Disability Day this institution have recently concluded a “Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Seminar: Focus on Women with Disability Day and Deaf Education” with the theme: “We for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society” to commemorate this year’s Women’s Month last March 27, 2023 at Camarines Norte State College.

The Camarines Norte Persons with Disability Affairs Office is in collaboration with the Camarines Norte State College—College of Business and Public Administration in the conduct of the aforementioned activity. The activity is graced by the Director of Center for Equity, Inclusivity, and Diversity—Dr. Delma Jean Abad, participants are the faculty, teaching and non-teaching personnel of Camarines Norte State College. The session comprises a lecture and workshop in accordance to GEDSI Orientation; Orientation in Relevant Laws Pertaining to Person with Disability Showcase of Policies and Practices in Achieving Disability Inclusion in the Workplace—delivered through online by Ms. Criselda Bisda wherein the later part a workshop has been facilitated and the participants was given a case study. Highlights of the workshop is the realized objective of the participants regards to the activity—from College of Arts and Sciences they acknowledged the silence on prejudice towards religion, disabilities, and gender that has surfaced in inclusivity issues, social issues, and gender issues. It is then mentioned that if they will to change systematic changes in policies and structures, they will establish links and tie ups with other agencies and implement protocols that is relative to the inclusivity for the benefit of the body. Also, part of the session of the program is Sharing of Personal Experiences of a Women with Disability delivered by Ms. Roxanne Orendain an employee of Provincial Government of Camarines Norte and Ms. Rica Mae Villasana the reigning Ms. Mercedes and Ms. Mabini 2022 to allow the participants to relate and understand the point of view of a person with disability.
