The Camarines Norte Persons with Disability Affairs Office is continually forging an inclusive governance by mainstreaming the rights and welfare of persons with disability (PWDs) at Camarines Norte Provincial Hospital on February 3, 2024. This institution recently concluded Disability Sensitivity Awareness Orientation as an initiative to recognize the facets that needs to be known by the public especially our public health workers here in the province.
The event was graced by Ms. Dominacion Ferreira, Mr. Romeo Rillermo, Dr. Liborio Ferrer, Mr. Bong Armea, and Dr. Rosene Reyes. The program was then formally opened by Ms. Dominacion Ferreira; part of the event is a lecture that was delivered by Dr. Rex Bernardo to incur awareness and promote inclusion among the guests and participants. The lecture includes all the ordinance and provisions for persons with disability.
Thereafter, the Basic Filipino Sign Language (FSL) was taught by our in-house sign language interpreter, Nerelyn Lopez-Padrigon, towards the CNPH staff. Furthermore, to be able to relate and understand what it’s like to be a person with disability, CNPDAO Staff Roxanne Orendain and Mark Aborde shared an inspiring and heart-warming experiences they had. They have been a victim of discrimination, and inequity however, they overcome all of these because their faith doesn’t falter and they remain true to themselves.
