Persons with disabilities are frequently left out of relief and response initiatives due to inaccessible disaster preparedness plans, systematic discrimination, and pervasive poverty. Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DI-DRR) is a method and a result that puts an emphasis on finding and eliminating obstacles in order for persons with disabilities to take part in and gain from disaster management operations on an equal footing with others.

Moreover, the Camarines Norte Persons with Disability Affairs Office is in partnership with Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office conducted a Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction Training last October 12-13, 2023 at Roadhouse Inn Café and Grill Basud, Camarines Norte. The event was graced by a renowned Malou Eudela, a development/ humanitarian practitioner with her excellent background in DRR both national and international. Mr. Ira Q. Largoza a competent, professional, and excellent practitioner in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction Management both in national and international. Lastly, Mrs. Malyn Manalo Asay, a faculty member of Camarines Norte State College, and the Disability Inclusion Officer of the College. These speakers give off their knowledge and skills in disaster risk reduction management to train both the municipal and provincial disability affairs officer and MDRRM practitioners to fully realize the need of comprehending the essence of Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction Management in the province.

The 2-day session of training is filled with bounty knowledge from the speakers with fun and games while learning tactics, strategies, and key actions in developing a disability inclusive disaster risk reduction management in the province. In conclusion, the training served its rightful purpose as it passes on the significant things to be learned and unlearn by the participants thus the event also paved a way into providing a safe space especially for persons with disability.
